HELISKIING IN ICELAND
Skíðadalur Valley classic holiday
Head for northeastern Iceland for a heliskiing holiday just below the Arctic Circle. In Icelandic Skíðadalur literally means “ski valley”. While Iceland is well known for its volcanoes, spectacular geysers and legends of trolls, its mountains and the quality of skiing they offer are often underestimated.
We are offering a unique week to discover the most beautiful slopes and the incredibly wild landscapes on the Troll Peninsula.

PROGRAM
The best time to arrive at Akureyri airport is late afternoon.
It is then a 45-minute drive to Klængshóll Lodge. The first briefing of the week will be given before dinner,
with your guides for the week on hand to answer any questions you have.
Heliskiing will be on the program on this first day but first there will be a safety briefing. This important moment will be the occasion to remind you of the safety instructions and what to do in the event of an avalanche, but also more specifically how to move around the helicopter.
Once the briefing is over, you are ready to fly!
The guides will organize the program day by day so that they have the best possible view of the conditions. The aim is to optimize your heliskiing time, so their choice of runs will take the weather constraints into account so that you get the most out of your stay.
Hearty, gourmet snacks will be taken in the helicopter for midday refreshment.
After the day’s skiing, you will have time to enjoy the welcoming Klængshóll Lodge. The sauna and jacuzzi are at your disposal to help your muscles to relax and massages can be arranged on request.
Dinner is also served at the lodge, prepared with care by the chef. The main products are lamb and fish, which the chef accompanies with vegetables and spices up with surprising flavors.
After a final breakfast at the Lodge, you pack your bags and set off for a last session of heliskiing.
You return to the Lodge to collect your luggage and then it is time for your transfer back to the airport.

ACCOMMODATION
You will be staying at Klængshóll Lodge in the Skíðadalur valley.
The lodge is actually an old sheep farm that has been owned by the same family for generations. The family runs the lodge with care and offers guests a warm welcome, making it the perfect cocoon for skiers wishing to discover the Troll Peninsula.
The main house is actually the original farmhouse and four charming cottages have been added over the years to increase the lodge’s capacity and comfort.
The old barn has also been restored and now offers a cozy lounge where you can relax by the wood-burning stove.
The hosts have thought of everything, so there is a spacious yoga room and a “cinema” area with a big screen on the second floor.
The chef is one of Iceland’s finest and will satisfy even the most discerning palates. Special diets can be catered for on request.
